What makes the ZERO rings better than other leash rings?
ZERO – the ultimate solution for a leash ring.
It’s smart. It is safe. It’s ultralight. – What else would you need?
It’s really a “must have” piece in every highline system.
It’s smart
Compared to standard rings there is no pulling force which affects the ZERO ring under load. A standard ring is just a force transferring element but the ZERO ring is something more; it distributes forces better than any other ring. ZERO is primarily a support for the leash rope and serves as intermediate rigid element by separating the leash rope from the webbing.
Improved safety
ZERO protects your webbing and leash rope. The leash rope fits into the ring’s U-shaped channel thus eliminating direct contact with the webbing and abrasion damage. Keeping the leash rope in the ring channel also minimise the risk of the rope being tangled in a fall situation. Unlike other rings this concept allows for the leash always to be looped around the webbing so even in case of a ring failure the leash would hold you.
Better stress distribution
ZERO has four times bigger contact area with the rope and two times bigger contact area with the webbing compare to other leash rings. This allows for better stress distribution on both the webbing and leash rope. And the best part is that you don’t need to use two rings for bigger surface contact as you would do with standard rings.
Additional safety
When the leash rope is not exposed to additional tension, an accessory cord keeps it secured and in place. When falling your load will result in tension which will lock the rope around ZERO and will keep it firm without any chance of slipping away. The channel accommodates the rope in such a way so that the rope preserves its natural shape even in a fall situation.
Durable
ZERO is forged from a solid block of high-strength aluminium alloy (7075). The shape and material choices make it extremely durable and bomb-proof and yes, still lighter than any other rings on the market. In addition we provide hard anodized finish for extra strength, endurance, and wear resistance.
Lightweight
ZERO design achieves the incredible weight of just under 80g! This is less than half the weight of the lightest steel ring on the market.
Not that we are generally obsessed with ultralight equipment, we just couldn’t make it more heavy.
The weight counts not just when you pull the ring behind you on the line, or carry it in a backpack but also if you accidently hit yourself in a leash fall situation. We believe that few hundred gram saving on a leash ring does make a difference.
Cost-efficient
Yes, it is more expensive than a basic drop-forged steel or aluminium ring. But ultimately investing into ZERO ring saves you a lot more in longer term. A 100m long webbing used for highlining costs between €150 to €200. If you can extend the lifespan of the webbing and use it for much longer that saves you cash.
The webbing can easily be damaged by a leash ring due to insufficient surface contact or even imperfection on the surface finish, causing friction and rapid wear. The ZERO ring addresses all of these issues by providing bigger surface contact and smooth finish and gives you additional safety and extended lifespan for your equipment.
It’s a piece of art
Nevertheless it looks stunning.
